Suzan G. Komen fundraiser Friday Oct 2nd

The SketchClub is doing a special event in October as a fundraiser for the Susan G. Komen cancer foundation. This is a first friday art trail event at the McPhereson Cellars winery located on Texas Avenue between 16th and 17th streets in the Depot Entertainment District. The event will be Friday October 2nd from 6 – 9 pm. We’re calling it “Face that Care” , and we’re doing drawings of people for donations to the Komen foundation. This is a great opportunity to get practice with drawing faces – and its for a good cause!

Freebirds “Party on the Patio!”

The Sketch Club will be sketch night at the Party on the Patio at our freebirds at 4930 s Loop 289 in Lubbock on July 19th from 1-5pm. Come Join us! There will be a Live Band “Blindfold Charlie”, Race Cars good food and lots of fun!

Texas Tech Daily Toreador newspaper article

The SketchClub had an article in the University newspaper yesterday. The article is online for anyone interested in reading it. My biggest thanks to Sarah for writing the article for us. I spoke to her class a few months back and she contacted me recently for the interview.

The Lubbock SketchClub was SPOTTED last night on the First Friday art trail at the Stray Dog Gallery.

I hope everyone had fun last night, I know I did! Thank you to Jennifer Adkins and everyone that helped organize the event. I think all our guests had a great time.

Are you an artist, like art, or just like to have fun? Then come out to Novacon, Lubbock’s only art convention, this Saturday, November 1st at the Garden and Arts Center from 9-5. There will be painting, sculpture, storytelling, poetry, comic books, anime, and lots more. You can even make your Halloween costume happy by wearing it for one more day before it gets put in the back of the closet.

Mid-Week Sketch Night

We had a great turnout for last week’s sketch night at Buffalo Wild Wings. So we decided to have it there again this week, but we are going to be at the 6320 19th Street location (near Milwaukee) from 7-10 on Thursday, October 23. I can smell the wings and graphite already!

Mid-Week Sketch Night

Sorry I’ve been MIA for a couple weeks, but we will be having a Mid-Week Sketch at Buffalo Wild Wings this Thursday, October 16, from 7-10 (or until we get tired). We will be at the Buffalo Wild Wings on University near 82nd Street. There is dining area for non-smoking, as well as a bar with smoking, so EVERYONE should be able to come. See you folks there!

What is a 24-hour comic?

The ultimate comicbook creating marathon. A virtual rite of passage for any comics creator. All you have to do is make something that usually takes 24 days in 24 hours… Make a comic, 24 pages (+ cover) in 24 hours from start to finish. No preparation, outlines, layouts, character designs, or script.

Volunteers are also needed (for food runs, forgotten art supplies, etc.) to help make this event a great one!

Pinktober Fundraiser!

The Lubbock SketchClub is participating in a fund raising event this friday on the First Friday art trail. We’ll be doing sketches on pink paper for donations to the Suzan G. Komen foundation for breast cancer awareness month.

The SketchClub will be at the Tornado Gallery – 19th and Buddy Holly Ave – from 6-9pm this Friday! Get a free sketch from our sketch club artists for a $ donation of your choice and all Proceeds will go to the Suzan G. Komen foundation. Hope to see ya’ll there!
