About Us

"The SketchClub is an artists group for cartoonists, illustrators and comic book artists that meets every Saturday night from 7-10 pm at Freebirds World Burrito (4930 South Loop 289, Suite 250) to draw and hang out.

The club is free to join, and artists of all skill levels are welcome. Its the perfect opportunity to draw inspiration from a wide variety of talent in one group.

The Sketch Club mission is to enable artists to reach their fullest potential artistically and spiritually, to use their lives and talents to make the world a better place, and inspire others to do the same."

The 2009 LUBBOCK COMIC BOOK EXPO

We are starting to work on organizing the 2009 Lubbock Comic Book Expo.  It looks like it is going to be a very exciting show this time around.  Be sure to visit our new website at www.lubbockcomics.com If you are interested in exhibiting at the convention, either as a vendor, a comic creator, or as an educational organization, put in your application early to reserve a good spot!  If you would like to help volunteer at the Expo or leading up tot he show, please contact us because we will definitely be needing as much help as you’re willing to give.  We’ll be meeting regularly starting in about two weeks to get the show ready to go.

MARCH ART SHOW

We are organizing our next art show called “Sequential Possibilities” for the March 6th, First Friday art trail at Hard Tops Gallery.  Join the Lubbock Sketch Club to discover the art of sequential story telling and all its possibilities. Fun interactive exhibits, along side original artwork and prints form Lubbock comic book community and sequential storytellers.  If you are interested in exhibiting at the show please email me or talk to Steve Wood at the Sketch night this weekend.
